Craigslist Hookups Section Officially Shuts Down

It’s ironic that I’m writing this news update today, especially after publishing an article on all the best free hookup sites in 2018. As you know Craigslist is free too and I’ve been against using the Craigslist classifieds section for a long time now. If I’m looking to get laid, I simply turn to my trusty iPhone dating apps in order to make that happen. Having updated you on a lot of Backpage lashing and Craigslist legal issues via some news updates, I can finally say that the Craigslist personals site is finally gone for good.

Based on my research, the owners of classified site shut down the whole personals section last week. They did this all in response to a bill that was recently passed by Congress. The Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act was passed and is now a bill that makes site owners liable the all of the content that the users post on the platform.

What does this mean?

Well, it means that Congress would be holding Craigslist responsible for false or illegal personals ads. The bill was passed in order to help fight the rampant sex trafficking that’s been taking place over the last decade.

The problem is that some are saying that this could actually make things worse and make it more risky for sex workers escorting out there.

While I don’t condone or suggest using Craigslist.org or Backpage.com, in terms of real streetwalkers and escorts, it’s likely to make it that much more difficult for them to meet John’s to hook up with. Lots of people love the Craigslist personals section, so much that sites have popped up that have tried to replicate the look and feel of the network. For example, this site here tried and failed miserably.

Here are my thoughts on this whole thing, if you’re trying to hook up with random strangers online, then you’re taking a huge risk using any of the non-secure or free personals sections of sites. That’s one of the main reasons why I only use safe and secure dating networks. Any other approach is foolish.
