My first site today is a really original take on travel dating. Miss Travel is all about setting up dates for travel bugs who are looking to have some romance while they’re traveling abroad. Members are allowed to search for three different scenarios: paying for a date to fly to a location of their choice, splitting all travel costs 50/50, or choosing to wait for a man or woman to whisk them away & pay for everything.

Of all of the options available on Miss Travel, I’m the biggest fan of the 50/50 route. This seems to also be the most realistic option, as you can find other like-minded members who are already traveling on their own & are looking to spice things up.

It also means that the choice of location is totally mutual, which would seemingly give you the best chance of finding someone who’d agree to a date in a foreign country.

I was stoked to see such a wide selection of languages being offered.

One point I thought would be important to point out is Miss Travel’s patronage. Next up today I’ve got Date My School. This site aims to enable students & alumni of specific universities & institutions to find each-other for romantic connections. It’s been slowly gaining in popularity for a few years and has been quite successful in connecting former classmates & staff.

 

Date My School boasts nearly one million users across the united states, which is pretty impressive considering the relatively limited genre. While not offered for every single university in the United States, they have many notable schools like NYU, Berkely, & Stanford, with more schools being added every week.

Searching for members on Date My School is pretty straightforward, with filters being offered for things such as age, degree type, current location and more.

While the desktop version of Date My School offers some limited functionality, the experience is meant to be had via the site’s mobile app. It’s available for both Android and iOS and has relatively decent ratings.

A great function that’s offered on their app is a privacy filter that syncs up with your social media, meaning that you’ll be invisible to everyone in your social network unless you choose to do otherwise.

One thing I would like to see Date My School add to their offerings is the ability to view who’s been checking out your profile. This could really make their numbers explode in terms of connections being had. I mean, how many times do you remember being in a class with a man or woman you had a crush on, never knowing that they were actually always interested in you?

4) Meet-an-inmate.com

Last up today, I’ve got Meet An inmate, a service that tries to connect prisoners with those on the outside. I covered this niche in-depth on this page. Unfortunately, this service is based Primarily in the United States, due to the country housing a good 25% of the world’s total inmate population.

Due to the severely restricted nature of prison life, “dating” on Meet An Inmate amounts to little more than finding a penpal. While maybe not the most exciting for us on the outside, prisoners are oftentimes overjoyed to receive letters from people living normal, day-to-day lives. Sometimes it’s the only variety they see in their day.

In addition to the ability to send messages, you can also search through profiles. There are sections for males & females, as well as a special section for the newly incarcerated. Keep in mind that these profiles are being written by criminals, so there’s going to be some inconsistency sometimes regarding who they are, what they look like, & what they’ve done. keep this in mind as you look around and talk to members.

I should say, however, that as I took a look around, it did seem like a lot of the inmates listed were pretty straightforward regarding their situations.

While this is absolutely a less-than-traditional dating site, even people doing time deserve a chance at finding love. While the site is about as stripped down as one would expect, it offers a sincere way for prisoners to find romantic partners.

Along with this, it’s a great opportunity to provide a bit of excitement & entertainment to people that don’t see a lot of newness in their lives. If you’re someone who finds the idea of exchanging your hopes & dreams with a “rough & tumble” inmate, you could definitely do a whole lot worse than Meet An Inmate.
