Happn is a hookup app, but it has a feature that helps it stand out from standard hookup apps like Tinder. Happn only connects you with people that you pass on the street. This makes for some fun connections. You would probably need to be in a city setting to take full advantage of it. That’s  because of the number of people in proximity that you need to make this effective.

If you live in a small town, you might find it decidedly more difficult to find a compatible person who happens to have this app. I had some minimal success, but my success clearly hinged on the fact that I live in a big city.

It’s pretty popular and people seem to purchase the coins. For now, you can enjoy the app for as long as you like without worrying about being charged.

Best Features

The best feature that draws users to Happn is the ability to connect with other users who are within 800 feet of where you are at. Happn users are also allowed to send one-minute audio clips to their connections. This can be a good feature for some, but things can get a bit creepy if you get a clip from a connection that is unwanted.

Also, when you get a match, their company and job title are included on their profile. This can make it easy to verify that any given connection is legit. Matching you with people that are close to you can also be a disadvantage because, if things go wrong, you may see those people more in the future.

My Experience

One thing that I can say about this dating app is that, when you do make a connection, hooking up can be very immediate. That was one thing that I definitely liked about using this app. I did run into some potential matches that weren’t really my type and some that did not consider me their type. However, when I did connect with someone, we started hanging out right away.

I was hanging out in a popular shopping center. I opened the app and seen that a potential match was very nearby. We matched and had a brief conversation over the app and we were face to face within the hour. We had a great time hanging out and an even better time when we got back to my place. Unfortunately, this was an isolated incident during my time using the app. While the experiences on other sex sites might not be as immediate, they were definitely higher in number and more frequent.

Conclusion – Happn Is Fun, But There Are Better Dating Apps Out There

Happn definitely has its drawbacks, but it also has its advantages. I did end up hooking up, but it’s just not as popular of an app as Tinder or other sex apps at the moment. The company promises that the app will be just as popular as Tinder by 2017. Until then, I had much better luck using these apps, but at least Happn is free to try it out.
