Down App Review: Can You Really Get Down?

I’m not sure how long you’ve been trying to meet people to bang, but if it’s been a few years then there’s a good chance you’ve come across the Down App. Assuming you’ve been hooking up with random horny locals for a while, then you may have come across the Bang With Friends app. These are the same apps as they just have been branded differently.

What happened was, the company originally was Bangwithfriends.com but the Words With Friends App got wind of this and they were uber pissed about that. They took legal action and the name was changed to the Down App. Here’s my complete review of the dating app.

Does The Down App For Android and iOS Really Work?

When you first come across the app’s homepage you’ll notice that the landing page is super modern. It actually gives off the impression that the app is for finding love. The two people holding hands gives off that vibe. Don’t let the image fool you though, it’s not meant for that. It’s actually a meet and bang app that’s more hardcore than meets the eye.

Down sells itself as being a top hookup tool for meeting people that just want to have sec. It operates in a similar manner to Tinder.com with swiping being the main mode of connecting with users. For example, you can swipe up or swipe down depending on whether or not you are down to fuck. If you find them attractive enough to hookup then you swipe up. If you don’t want to hook up with them, then you swip down.

App Features

Another thing that this app offers is a nearby match function. This helps you better connect with people using the app that live nearby. Some of main features of the Down App are similar to the features of other apps. For example, you’ll find that they have anonymous swiping which allows you to use the app without fear of people finding out you do or don’t like them. It also has a messaging feature that allows you to chat with users who like you.

As for search, it’s lacking huge in that department. It allows you to filter by gender and age, that’s it. Also, the Down app doesn’t allow you to add a nice bio within your profile. Instead, all it does is go off of pictures and that’s it.

Here are some facts you need to know about the app. it caters to people that are between 18 and 30 years old. The app is only available in the United States and United Kingdom. There have been lots of downloads on both platforms but the reviews are rather mixed.

Yes, the Down app has a premium subscription that they offer users. This is how they make money. The free version of the app only allows ten profile swipes daily. However, the paid membership allows you to swipe all day long, as many members as you’d like. The cost to upgrade is $16.99. It’s a pretty cheap membership considering the prices of others out there.

Facebook Connection

The one thing that I’m not thrilled about is the way the app connects with your Facebook friends. This type of connection is something I try to avoid when looking for sex only. Unfortunately this app was originally set up to connect with your Facebook profile. They’ve since changed that but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Conclusion: The Down App Might Work But It’s Not Number One

I gotta be honest, I like simple things and this app is definitely simple, but it’s not the most effective. While I’m sure a lot of people do find people to bang in the Nearby Picks but I just think it’s less effective in comparison to other hook up apps out there today. My suggestion would be to give it a try if you’d like. However, you’re bound to have better luck using something like this instead.
