When it snows in the northeast, people get stuck in their houses. They literally can’t do anything. Power goes out and there’s only one thing left that works, your smartphone. That’s when the dating app usage really starts to pick up!
Dating App Use Increases Turning Snow Storm
In New York this past weekend, a lot of people were worried about the damage that snow storm Jonas was going to have in the local area. New York City got a whopping 27 inches of snow during the weekend. That’s a heck of a lot of snow! That snow didn’t stop people from hooking up online. It actually helped! According to a Fox News, dating app use was up a whopping 139% for the app Happn.
It wasn’t just restricted to NYC though. Apparently, Philadelphia residents saw 22 inches of snow and messaging was up a huge 342%.
Happn was not the only app that saw an increase in usage during the storm. Other apps such as Bumble and Tinder saw the same exact happen. People were anxious to connect with one another in order to either chat or perhaps even meet to get laid.
I should probably mention that during a snowstorm it’s always important to think of your physical safety first. If the weather is so bad that it’s dangerous to go outside, then I’d suggest reverting to basic chatting and video messaging instead of meeting in person.
If you’re not a member of any sites that have high-quality video chatting then you haven’t read the reviews that I’ve written because I’ve suggested many to you. I should probably mention that it’s extremely important to monitor your usage and ensure that you’re not draining your battery too much during a storm. If you have an emergency and need power but you’ve used it all to send snap chats to someone you want to bang, well, you might find yourself in trouble! Use your brain here!
